Abstract

291,660. Chedler, R. B. Sept. 30, 1927. Moulding pulp.-Asbestos-cement, slabs &c. are formed by continuously and simultaneously winding a number of layers of material at different points upon a drum to a predetermined thickness and subsequently cutting and removing the wound material. As shown, a pair of felt bands 6 receive a layer of material from moulds 5 rotating in tanks 1-4 and co-operating with coating rollers 7, and the bands transfer the layers to a drum 11 under the influence of spring influenced discharging rollers 12. The drum 11 is mounted in ball bearings to rotate freely. A guide 23 fitted with rollers 24 prevents the material falling away from the drum. The bands 6 pass through washing tanks 18 and between drying-rollers 20 before returning to the moulds 5.
