Mixing fluids in flow.-Liquid is automatically delivered by a siphon from a mixing vessel to a colorimeter to be inspected therein, the variation of pressure in the mixing-vessel causing the movement of a mercury seal so as to entrap a measured volume of indicator and deliver it to the mixing vessel. The indicator is contained in a vessel 1 through the stopper of a tube 2 extends into the liquid. A tube 7 extends from the vessel 1 into one arm 9 of the mercury seal. A tube 5 extends from the chamber 9 to a point 4 within the mixing vessel 6, and a tube 12 from the other arm 11 of the mercury seal to the base of the vessel. The liquid to be tested passes into the vessel 6 till its level is high enough to cause the siphon 17 to function and draw off liquid into the colorimeter 18. At the same time as the liquid level rises, the mercury in the chamber 9 rises till it closes the outlet 13 of the tube 7 and afterwards forces the indicator liquid contained in the chamber 9 through the tube 5 into the mixing vessel.
