Catches, automatic ; holders for sliding windows. - A latch mechanism enclosed in a readily removable casing, Fig. 3, mounted on a grooved base plate, Fig. 4, secured on the meeting rail of the lower sash of a window engages a toothed rack on the top sash. The mechanism consists of a pivoted latch A which is retracted by a handle J acting through a linkage G, D, C against the action of a spring B.
