Abstract

289,717. Holmes, J., and Kingcome, H. A. Nov. 1, 1927. Bulk evaporators of the type comprising a cylindrical shell containing a steam chamber a bounded by two plates c connected by tubes b through which the liquid, to be evaporated circulates and a down-comer tube h located at one side, are arranged with their axes inclined at about 60‹ to the horizontal. The discharge outlet l is formed collinear with the down-comer h, the bottom k being inclined to form a chute for the crystals. Baffles e are provided to arrest drops of liquor which are returned through a tube f and a .tube j permits drainage of condensate from the tubes b.
