Abstract
289,602. Coventry Automatic Telephones, Ltd., and Collyer, J. E. March 11,1927. Electromagnetic interrupters.-An alternating or pulsating current is obtained from a direct current source by means of a vibrating interrupter, the vibrating member 8 of which is normally maintained under strain, for example by an electromagnet 4, and is released to vibrate at its natural frequency without further energiza.- tion during the period in which current is required. The vibrating member cooperates with contacts 10, 13 to energize the primary winding 18 of a transformer from a battery connected between the mid point of the winding and the vibrating member. The secondary winding 19 may be used for supplying ring- ing current to small telephone exchanges, in which case the electromagnet 4 is controlled by contacts 17 operated periodically by a relay forming part of a relay chain, or by a revolving cam.
