Abstract

289,553. Dicker, S. G. S., (Naamlooze Vennootshap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Jan. 31, 1927. Soldering.-A solder for uniting parts of tungsten or molybdenum to other metals or alloys, such as tungsten contact plates or tungsten rods united to leading-in wires of transmitting valves, consists of copper with a de-oxidizing admixture. Silicon or aluminium may be used as a deoxidizer, a suitable solder consisting of copper alloyed or mixed with about 2-3 per cent. of silicon. A flux such as borax or glass may also be added. According to the Provisional Specification the process may be applied to the soldering of chrome-iron.
