Abstract
289,508. Cooper, C. A. Jan. 22, 1927. Light, treating diseases with.-Apparatus for ultra-violet and light treatment comprises a frame a supporting a mercury vapour lamp, tungsten arc, or other source of ultra-violet rays c, and a number of ruby lamps e or other sources of red or other rays so chosen that the mixed light emitted is comparable in quality with sunlight. The lamps e are preferably interposed between the source c and the patient. The front of the frame is covered by a sheet of glass of the kind transparent to ultra-violet light and having a '" cathedral " finish to disperse the light; this sheet may be covered if desired by a sheet of ordinary glass or orange or other coloured silk, artificial silk, or fabric screen f to reduce the intensity of the rays or improve the appearance of the apparatus. The source c, when a mercury vapour lamp, is provided with tipping means d. A reflector g may be provided behind the lamps. The apparatus may be of bowl or other shape and may be mounted on a stand or the like.
