Insulators. - In an insulator of the type described in the parent Specification, means are now provided for joining the inverted bowlshaped metal hoods 17 in series, the porcelain rods carrying the hoods being connected together by sleeves 14 and studs 15. Toroidal rings 21 are formed on the upper surfaces of the hoods 17 so as to distribute the electrostatic stress in such a. way that the potential gradient reaches a maximum between the outer edge, and the centre, of the insulator. Each hood 17 is formed with a water-drip portion 18.
