330,000. Pollak, J. E., (Hermsdorf- Schomburg-Isolatoren, Ges.). Feb. 27, 1929. Insulators. - Suspension and terminal strain insulator chains are provided on their upper, lower, and if necessary on intermediate members, with metallic protecting devices for locating arc formation at these fittings and away from the core parts of the chain. Blow-out coils mav be located on the chain to assist the functioning of the protecting fittings. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, a suspension chain is provided on its upper member 15 with horns 11 connected by a ring 17 which permits an arc to wander round without striking across the core. The lower member 16 of the chain has a basket type protector 10. In Fig. 5, a terminal chain has cage fittings, 26, 27 connected by horns 28, 29 provided with points 30, 31 located outside the cage which is also constructed with projecting parts 32, 33.
