Residual gases. - One or more of the parts which are to constitute the supporting system for the filament is or are provided with getter material before these parts are assembled together. If the getter is applied to wire from which supporting hooks are to be formed, a fine adjustment of the amount of getter material applied to a lamp may be obtained by placing in the hook-inserting machine a predetermined number of spools of coated wire; for example to make the lamp mount shown wherein the hooks a only are coated with getter, two spools of coated and five spools of uncoated wire are mounted in the machine.
