Bobbins, cops, &c.-A cop for supporting a universally wound thread mass 14, Fig. 1, comprises a tubular core 12 and a frustoconical head 13 provided with parallel annular transversely concave peripheral depressions 15 forming obtuse-angled ridges 16, so that a thread convolution 14a, Fig. 2, on dropping from the lower end of a thread layer is supported by the outer portion of a depression 15 therebelow. The ridges 16 are sufficiently obtuse not to be chipped or broken.
