Abstract
287,921. Maschinenfabrik Augsburg- N³rnberg Akt.-Ges. March 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Sluice gates are operated by two or more motors which can be put into operation successively, and impart to the sluice different operating speeds, or act on sluices of different effective areas. The Figure shows a sluice g controlled by a float a by means of a lever c and electric contacts e, f. The contacts e are made by slight variations of water level and energize a motor l, which drives the shaft k and moves the gate g. The contacts f are made by greater movements of the float a, and energize the motor m, which, through a differential gear n, rotates the shaft k and moves the gate g more rapidly. A third motor, similarly controlled, may be fitted and the additional motors may be geared to different shafts k to operate additional gates.
