Web-feeding arrangements; line-spacing mechanism; platen-impression arrangements. -Printing-mechanism for a cash register comprises a rocking frame which supports a receiving-roll for a record strip, line-spacing mechanism, and a platen, and is connected to a strip-shifting member so arranged that on descent of the rocking frame the strip is shifted from inspection to printing position and the member is then positively arrested so as to hold the strip stationary at the time of impression. In the mechanism shown in the Figure, the strip RS passes from a supply roll 1 on the framework to a receiving-roll 16 on a rocking frame A pivoted at 18 on the framework and provided with an adjustable arm 19 engaging a cam 23. The strip passes over a platen roller 31 and a table 32 on the rocking frame, and is led around rollers 3, 4 on a shifting- arm 5 which rocks on the support 2 of the roll 1. A rocking plate 9 mounted on the support 16<1> of the roll 16 is connected by a link 11 to the framework and is connected to the arm 5 by a slotted link 6 and spring 10. The plate 9 has a pawl 14 co-operating with a ratchet-wheel 15 on the roll 16. On operation of the shaft 24, the rooking frame is depressed, the plate 9 rocks anti-clockwise, and the arm 5 rocks clockwise and shifts the strip from inspection to printing position, the movement continuing until the end 5<1> of the arm abuts on a shoulder 9<1> on the plate, whereupon the spring 10 yields. Thereafter, the strip is held stationary and impression is effected from the type-wheels T, and on return of the rocking frame the pawl 14 feeds the strio on to the roll 16, and the arm 5 returns the strip to normal position. The inspection opening for the printed items may be provided with a glass cover and have a writing opening. The autographic notes are made before the corresponding printed item and the pawl 14 causes the item and notes to be carried under the glass cover, alteration being thereby prevented.
