287,835. Traut, R. May 25, 1927, [Con vention date]. Rolling tubes; skew-rolling. - Three or more skew rolls 4a driven in common from a single reversible electric motor 1 are arranged to work in pairs, the rolls 4a and 4b acting on a billet in the trough 5a to force it over the mandrel 6<a> to pierce it. When finished the motor is reversed quickly when the rolls 4b, 4<c> work together similarly on a billet lying ready in the trough 5<b>. In Fig. 2 the midle skew roll can be tilted at right angles to its axis to work with either of the adjacent rolls without requiring reversal of the motor.
