Abstract
287,681. Nortons (Tividale), Ltd., and Dovey, C. T. Feb. 7, 1927. Fixed sieves; reciprocating sieves.-In screening conveyers and de-watering screens, vibration is imparted to the screen mesh by attaching thereto rollers, balls or projections which are engaged by suitable projections on a travelling band or chain. Preferably the operative part of the travelling band or chain runs over a rider bar the position of which relative to the screen mesh is variable so as to vary the amplitude of the vibration. Fig. 1 shows the application to a reciprocating screen 1 mounted on links 2 actuated by any device. The underside of the screen carries rollers 17 or other form of projection which are engaged by the rollers 11 of a chain or band 10 which is driven by sprocket wheels. The chain &c. passes along a rider bar 12 which is hung from the the screen frame by links 13 so that longitudinal adjustment of the bar by the threaded rod 16 alters its distance from the screen. The vibrating device may operate on the upper or lower side of the screen, and a single chain &c, may be used in connection with two superposed screens. The application to a stationary inclined screen is also described.
