Abstract

287,201. Atkins, E. A., and Rylands Bros., Ltd. Nov. 19, 1926. Galvanizing and similarly coating metal by dipping.-In a process for galvanizing or coating steel articles, the article is immersed in molten lead or lead alloy at a temperature of 600-800‹ C. so as to anneal it and then immersed in molten spelter or zinc or zinc alloy without coming in contact with the atmosphere. The wire or other article x is led over a roller 3 into a lead bath 1 under a roller 4 therein and thence through a tube 5 into a spelter bath 2 and under a roller 6 therein and then out of the bath 2 over a roller 7. Instead of the tube 5, the lead and zinc baths may be connected by a passage through which the wire &c. passes, or a single bath may be used in which the wire &c. passes under a partition therein, the zinc floating on the bath on one side of the partition.
