Abstract

286,733. Engineering Products Corporation, Inc., (Assignees of Searing, H. R.). March 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Cable couplings.-The joints 4 of a multi-core cable are enclosed by a tube 7 and separated by partitions 8 both of insulating-material having a high dielectric constant, spreading of the cables being prevented by rings 9 of the same material. The joints 4 are first taped, and partition members, bent to form double partitions 8 and a cylindrical surface 10', are threaded between them, the tube 7 holding these in place, and the ends of the members 8 being notched at 12 to engage notches 13 in the rings 9 for mutual support. A sheathing 14 wiped on to the cable sheath at each end is provided with an aperture for the introduction of liquid or plastic insulating material to fill the joint.
