Abstract
286,137. G÷rlitzer, A. June 17, 1927. Supports attached to cycles.-A lifting-jack or stand clamped at its upper end to the load, which may be the frame of a motor-cycle &c., has a guide pivoted to the clamp and carrying a spring- retracted extensible leg, a lever being mounted on the guide pivot and connected by a toggle link to the leg. As applied to a motor-cycle, clamps 2 are secured to the rear frame members 1 and carry a transverse shaft 3 provided with a coiled spring 6 anchored to a frame member 7. Pivotally mounted on the ends of the shaft are guides 8 in ,which the legs 9 are adapted to slide. The legs 9 are normally retracted by springs 11. An operating handle or pedal 5 is secured to one end of the shaft and when depressed turns the guides downwards until they contact with stops 14 on the clamps. Further movement of the handle then pushes the legs into contact with the ground and raises the load by means of toggle links 12, pivoted to the handle and legs. The toggle links in the extreme position contact with stops 15 on the guides, the toggle link pivots being then over the dead centre so that the jack remains extended.
