Abstract
283,932. Allgemeine Elektricitõts- Ges. Jan. 20, 1927, [Convention date]. L i n e a r - dimension gauges. - In apparatus for gauging the dimensions of sets of wheels for railway vehicles the calliper like measuring device for determining the centre of the axles, the centre of the journals, the distance apart of the wheel tyres, the diameter of the tread, &c. is pivotally mounted on the bench standards so as to be movable to facilitate the disposal of the wheel sets measured. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the bar a carrying the measuring devices a<1> is held by arms b, c, pivotally mounted on the standards d, e, carrying the measuring mandrels. The arms and bar when raised rest against abutments f to hold them in the inoperative position so that the set of wheels can be rolled into position and raised by an hydraulic lifting gear h the axle then being engaged by the mandrels. When the bar a is lowered the arms b, c rest on supporting columns t to ensure the bar a being in the horizontal plane of the axle.
