283,649. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Tarrant, R. W. Oct. 15, 1926. Contact-making relays.-A pair of relays 8, 9 used in a. railway signalling system are mounted one above the other on a, plate 30 of bakelite, and in a glass case 52 held in place by screws 53 screwing into the right-hand pole-pieces of the relays, the other pole-pieces being secured to the plate 30. Two vertical rows of external terminals 47 - - 50 are provided for the necessary connections. The armatures 33 are parallel with the relay cones and carried by yoke-members 34 embracing and pivoted at 32<a> to, the left-hand pole-pieces. Each member 34 has an arm to which is tethered one end of a spring 40, the other end of the spring being connected near the periphery of a disc 41 rotatably mounted on the outer pole-piece. Adjustment of the spring tension is effected by rotating the disc, which can be secured in adjusted position by a clamping screw passing through an arcuate slot 42. The free ends of the armatures carry the contact springs 35 co-operating with fixed contacts which may be in the form of tubular pieces of carbon 51.
