Abstract
282,779. Marino, Q. Dec. 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Tin, depositing. -- A solution of stannous chloride obtained by detinning tin scrap or tinned products with a bath comprising hydrochloric acid and an oxidizing salt such as sodium or potassium chromate, bichromate, or nitrate or sodium, potassium, or ammonium chlorate, may be evaporated to dryness, and the product be dissolved in dilute sulphuric acid and be subjected to electrolysis using retort carbon or agglomerated plumbago plates as anode and copper &c. plates as cathode. The tin is deposited in spongy form. In an example, the detinning solution consists of hydrochloric acid to which have been added stated proportions of sodium bichromate, chlorate, and nitrate.
