Abstract

282,741. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Prindle, R. B.)., Dec. 29, 1926, [Convention date]. Binding-posts and terminals.-The conductor 27. Fig. 1, supplying current to an electric furnace enclosed in a casing 11 is supported by an insulating device which also seals the aperture leading into the casing. The invention is described as applied to a vacuum furnace of the type described in Specification 235,565, [Class 51 (ii). Furnaces and kilns for applying &c.]. The insulator consists of a glass sleeve 25 which is secured by welding to a metal cap member 26 and a metal bushing 23 let into the aperture oi the casing. The conductor 27 is a solid rod supported by the cap 26 and slidingly mounted in an insulating block 28 of lava. A longitudinally split sleeve 29 is clamped around the base of the metal sleeve 23 by a clip 31 for the protection of the glass sleeve.
