Cleaning machinery pneumatically. -The piping 6, 7 of a vacuum stripping installation for card clothing is made of large dimensions to ensure uniformity of vacuum throughout the system. Several engines may be cleaned simultaneously, and the waste fibres bulked together in a receiver 8. A relief valve 10 regulates the degree of vacuum by allowing inlet of air; alternatively, the motion of a valve subject to the vacuum may operate a rheostat controlling the electric pump driving means. Additional valved suction pipes 11, 12 may be provided to clean the floor, machinery, &c., the dust &c. removed by them being deposited in the receiver 8 when free of its other contents, or being conveyed further through an extension of the main 7.
