282,052. Berridge, R. G., Berridge, W. S., Hines, H. F., and Cleaton, R. E. Dec. 9, 1926, [Convention date]. Affixing stamps.-A roll 3 of stamps is held in a casing between washers 7 under the pressure of springs, the end 4 of the roll 3 passing through a stamp tube 5 to a knife-edge 6 where the stamps are severed from the strip. A weight 9, hinged to the casing, presses on the roll 3 to prevent too rapid feeding. The stamp roll is inserted in position through a hinged piece 11 of the casing. The stamps are wetted before they are severed from the roll by a wick 17 carried in a tube 18 and dipping in a water reservoir 16. The stamps are guided in the tube 5 by a flat spring 20.
