Pistons; attaching to rod; packing.-In apparatus for storing radioactive liquid, and other liquids containing gases, comprising a glass or other container 1 with a piston resting on the surface of the liquid for excluding air, the piston consists of a number of india-rubber discs 6, clamped between aluminium or other metal plates 7 of smaller diameter. The discs may be secured directly to the piston-rod 12, or may be clamped by a nut 10 against a shoulder 9 on a bush 8, which is screwed or otherwise secured to the rod.
