Abstract

281,019. Farmer, W. J. Aug. 26, 1926. Loud-speakers. - A combined hornless loudspeaker and flower bowl or vase comprises a bowl a having, beneath its raised bottom b, an openwork portion c and a flange d which is secured to a base member e adapted to house the loudspeaker element f. The element f, which is preferably of the construction described in Specification 239,935, may be mounted, as shown, on the base g of the member e or it may be secured to the bowl a. The diaphragm k may be protected by a fine gauze guard arranged across the top of the frame n or clamped between the flanges d, o, and an openwork or stamped metal guard, sleeve or ring may be fitted around the frame n. The raised bottom b of the bowl serves to deflect the sound waves out through the openwork portion c. In order to prevent the possibility of any water from the bowl a coming into contact with the element f, the flange d may be upturned at its inner periphery as indicated in dotted lines. The upper part of the bowl may be fitted with a wire net. A metal wire p may extend from one of the bowl-securing screws q down and through a hole r in the plate g, where it is bent over and a seal s applied.
