Each series of wedges 0 - - 20, Fig. 3, is mounted in a frame 21 between stops 30, 31, the spacing L of which is adjusted to correspond with the dimensions of the sensitive plate by movable blocks 32, 33 and a screw 135, the number of wedges being equal to the number of repeats in a row or column or a sub-multiple thereof. The bases of alternate wedges (even numbers in Fig. 3) abut against a fixed face 27 of the frames 21 whilst the intervening wedges (odd numbers) abut against a movable edge 25a, so as to enable the desired number of wedges to be accommodated in any length L. The movable edge 25<a> is controlled by a wedge 24 adjustable by screws 26, 26a in conjunction with a plate 23 which is adjustable in dovetail guides 22 and cam be fixed to the frame 21 by a pin 23<a>.
