Retractive switches; retarding devices.-A switch for a direction-indicator is slowly returned by springs to its central position, after it has been actuated to left or right. The spindle a carrying the operating handle carries also a contact arm f adapted to be moved from a central position into engagement with one of two contacts g, a cross-head b engaging spring pressed plungers c which return the spindle to its central position, and a spring-pressed wheel h which frictionally engages a wheel i in mesh with a gear train k ending in a wind vane. The friction coupling between the wheels h, i slips when the spindle a is rotated by the handle, but grips when the handle is released so that the springs c slowly return the parts to their central position.
