Abstract
280,332. Klauck, M. A. Sept. 28, 1926. Anchoring.-A mooring member f extending through the length of the ship is provided at intervals with members c which engage plates e connected to the balloon portion by rigging k when the airship is subjected to mooring stresses. The member f may be a cable, chain, or series of jointed rods or may - consist of two rods a<2>, Fig. 6, running parallel and whipped to members m which replace the members c. The cable &c. is secured to the end gas bag at the nose end by means of flanged plates l. The nose fitting consists of fabric stretched over flexible ribs connected by spiral springs to rods forming the frame of the balloon portion. The nose is thus capable of transverse and longitudinal movement. Where the gas bag comprises a number of balloonets they are provided with collapsable sleeves &c. for making a gas tight connection with the anchoring member. According to the Provisional Specification the cable is secured to the plate e and to an eyelet or hook on the nose of the ship.
