Abstract

280,113. Nuttall, G. R. F. May 18, 1927. Openwork metal posts. - A supporting tower for electric cables comprises a steel frame tower surmounted by one of two cages, according as the cable run in straight or has an angle in it. Where there is an angle the tower 1, Figs. 1 and 2, carries the cage 3 supporting three cables 4, 5 and 6. For each cable there is a pair ot horizontally arranged string insulators . 11 or 12 to which the two ends of each cable are attached. The outer cables, 5 and 6, are continued electrically by jumpers 13 and the central cable 4 by an upward jumper 14 which is supported by a string insulator 15. Where the cable run is straight the cables 4, 5, 6, Fig. 3, are attached to the lower ends of vertical string insulators 7, 8, 9 supported on the cage 2.
