Bone, horn, and ivory are coloured by means of concentrated dye solutions obtained by dissolving the dye or dyes in aqueous liquids containing hydroxy derivatives of benzene hydrocarbons. In .an example, a solution made by pasting Alizarine Celestol B with water and resorcinol, phenol or pyrogallol is used to give a blue shade.
