Abstract

279,730. Beauty, W. E., (Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc.). May 17, 1927. Constant-speed control systems.-A main motor 8 controlled for constant speed by a constant-frequency device such as a tuning- fork interrupter 14 is mechanically coupled to a subsidiary motor 29 controlled both for constant speed and constant phase relationship by the same constant-frequency device, in order to get an accurate drive suitable for the distributors of printing telegraphs. The main motor may, as shown, be a direct current machine supplied from a generator 11 and having armature tappings connected to the tuning-fork circuit. The subsidiary coupled motor may be a phonic wheel actuated by a group of magnets arranged as shown. A mercury-filled flywheel may be added
