Abstract
278,891. Savage, J. Oct. 22, 1926. Oils, extracting by solvents.-Oils are extracted from moist oleaginous materials by circulating therethrough the vapours of a volatile solvent, condensing and separating the extracted water and solvent, and returning the solvent to the extraction chamber at a temperature just below its boiling point at the pressure existing in the circuit. A container 1 is divided into an extraction chamber A and a solvent-heating chamber B by a perforated platform 2 supporting the material to be treated. The water and solvent vapour are condensed on the lid by cooling coils 7 and collecting in a tray 14 pass through a cup 13 and a pipe 10 to a water separator 17 having an automatic float, release 18, the solvent being returned through a pipe 19 to the chamber B. The material may be sprinkled with solvent from a coil 24. In a modification the condenser is arranged outside the container 1.
