Abstract
278,417. Hooley, L. J., Thomas, J., and Scottish Dyes, Ltd. July 2, 1926. Alkylamino- and arylamino-anthraquinones; acridines -The 1-halogen-2-amino-3-chloranthraquinones described in Specification 264,916 are condensed with primary aliphatic or aromatic amines. The products are then treated' with sulphuric acid ; with concentrated acid or oleum sulphonic acids are produced which can be used for dyeing and printing silk. wool, and cellulose acetate; with weaker sulphuric acid and the arylamino compounds products are obtained which are possibly acridines and dye wool. According to examples (1) 1-brom-2-amino-3-chloranthraquinone or 1 : 3-dichlor-2-aminoanthraquinone is heated with sodium acetate and aniline or p-toluidine, and the product is isolated by dilution with butyl alcohol or steam distillation and sulphonated; (2) the condensation products from aniline and p-toluidine are heated with sulphuric acid of 90 per cent strength; the products dye wool in bluish-red shades and are probably acridine derivatives; (3) 1-brom-2- amino-3-chloranthraquinone is condensed with methylamine in presence of copper and sodium acetates ; the product dyes cellulose acetate in reddish shades.
