Abstract

278,020. Rohrba-ch, A. Sept. 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Planes, connecting to machine.-A monoplane has its wings jointed to the fuselage sides, each wing spar, or some of the wing spars, being connected thereto by a direct joint and by a short inclined strut connected at one end to the fuselage and at the other to the wing spar a short distance along the span. A wing is shown having the upper girders of its spars connected to the fuselage at two points c and the lower girders of the spars connected at points d to short struts f which are connected to the fuselage at two points g or at points h or i. Struts n connect the points c, d. The root of the wing may terminate along the line m to avoid obstruction of the view from the windows, or a transparent section r may continue the contour of the wing. Modifications are described in which the struts f on each side of the machine converge to single points on the lower edge or to a common point in the base of the fuselage. In another modification, the points d of each wing are connected by a horizontal member supported at its centre by a short inclined strut connected to the fuselage. The wings may have their direct connections at the bottom of the fuselage and their strut connections at the top.
