Sulphur dioxide; sulphuric acid.-In producing gases containing sulphur dioxide, for use in the manufacture of sulphuric acid, by roasting sulphide. ores, sulphur-containing materials &c. in Dwight-Lloyd or similar apparatus in which the materials are evenly passed in a thin layer through a heating zone, air under pressure is forced through the material from above. The resultant gases enter the Glover tower without cooling.
