Abstract

277,007. Bunk, P. Sept. 1, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 7; 1927]. Wave energy, utilizing.-A ship or other floating body is provided with a number of casings 1, Fig. 3, in which are floats 7 adapted to drive shafts 14 through rope or rack gearing. The shafts 14 drive a shaft 28 continuously in the same. direction, through clutches and spur and sprocket gearing. Each casing may have a contracted mouth 32, and branch pipes 33 provided with valves 34, or a rectangular casing may be provided with plates 42, 43, Fig. 10, the plates 43 being pivoted to strips 44 and to the casing at 45, and the plates 42 being pivoted to the strips 44 and to vertically-adjustable members 47. In order to prevent the passage of a great volume of water past the floats, each is provided with plates 36, 37, Fig. 8, the upper plate being provided with large openings 38 fitted with disc valves 39, and the lower plate having small perforations.
