Abstract

276,353. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 19, 1926, [Convention date Dlonoazo dyes giving yellow dyeings particularly fast to light are obtained by coupling diazotized 2:5: 6-trichlor-3-aminotoluene-4-sulphonic acid with a 1-sulphophenyl-5-pyrazolone substituted in the 3-position by a methyl, carboxyl or carboxylic ester group. In an example, 1-3<1>-sulpho - 6' - chlor-phenyl - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is used; the product dyes wool in a pure yellow shade fast to water, sodium carbonate and hot pressing, and of exceptional fastness to light. The 1-sulphophenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones and the 1- sulphophenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acids and their esters are also specified as coupling components. 3:5:6 - Trichlor-3-aminotoluene-4-sulphonic acid is obtained by chlorinating p-toluenesulphonic acid, o-chlortoluene-p-sulphenic acid, or 2 : 6-dichlortoluene-4-sulphonic acid, and nitrating and reducing the product.
