275,936. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Aug. 10, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Differential governors. - Relates to systems comprising a number of electric motors driving separate sections of paper-making or other machinery and automatically controlled to run in constant speed relations by means of mechanical differential devices, one for each controlled motor. According to the invention corresponding members of all the differential speed-controllers 27, Fig. 3, are mechanically coupled together by transmission gearing, for example, belts and conepulleys 25, whereby the speed-ratio of any two motors can be changed at will, the change being operative upon all the motors to the right in succession. The invention is applicable to motor systems in which the speed-controlling devices are not driven directly by the working motors but by auxiliary motors fed from armature tappings of the working motors or from coupled generators. Slipping clutches and manually adjustable bevel gear may form part of the mechanism.
