Abstract

Pyrotechnic devices.-Incendiary, smoke, and lachrymatory torches of a non-missile character comprise a casing a, Fig. 3, provided with a lever lid at the bottom or the top or both bottom and top d, e. Cover lids b, c may be provided ir addition. A primer i in a serrated washer j of the kind described in Specification 270,811 is placed beneath the top lever lid e against an igniter l in a thimble k covered by a lid k<1>. The upper side of the primer has a match face h covered by a metal disc f, which is torn off by means of a ring g to expose the match face for use. The casing a contains a smoke-producing charge m, within which may be embedded tubes n containing a lachrymatory composition. In a modification, Fig. 8, a tube s extends above the the top lid e and is provided with tin-foil covered lateral outlets r and with an end push-in plug t to which an electric igniter w may be fitted The tubular extension s may be surrounded by a hood p, Fig. 6, provided with a lever-lid top q. When the hood is in position, and its top lid removed, the gases discharged by the lateral outlets r are baffled and directed upwards through the hood.
