Abstract
274,741. Petroff, G. Feb. 1, 1927. Splitting fats.-The emulsions formed in splitting oils and fats by the usual reagents, e.g. Twitchel. " Opeil-Ring," " Kontakt " (naphthasulpho-acids) " Idrapid " (octo-hydro-anthracenesulpho-acid) and similar reagents, are decomposed by the addition of a small quantity of calcium sulphate (0.1-0.5 per cent) a little sulphuric acid preferably being also added. The calcium compound formed may itself he used for splitting purposes, or the calcium sulphate may be regenerated by treatment with sulphuric acid.
