Abstract

274,309. Marks, E. C. R., (Christensen Airbrake Co.). Sept. 28, 1926. Regulating compression. - Means for holding a compressor valve open when the pressure rises above a determined value comprises a spring-pressed member 38 adapted to be pressed down on the valve stem with a hammer action by a member 19 under the influence of the compressed fluid, and a spring- pressed latch member 41 adapted either to hold the member 38 on to the valve stem or to be struck out of engagement by the hammer member. The hammer member consists of a lever 19 having a fixed pivot 20 and a slot engaged with lost motion by a pin 24 on the forked upper end of a rod 22 which is pressed downwards by a spring 35 and upwards by the fluid pressure acting on a cap 29 secured to the end of the rod and forming an air tight chamber with a bellows 31 secured to it and to a plate 30 to which a pipe 34 leads from the reservoir. Springs 26 snap the lever over.
