Annealing.-Heat treatment for a magnetic material which contains cobalt, and either nickel or iron or both, may comprise heating the material in tape form at about 1100‹ C. for at least one hour and cooling slowly, followed or not by reheating to about 725‹ C. and cooling more quickly to about 350‹ and thereafter at any desired rate: or the cooling from 725‹ C. may be effected rapidly by placing the spiral of tape on a copper plate in the open air.
