Abstract

273,482. Beardmore & Co., Ltd., W., and Webster, T. H. Feb. 11, 1926. Loading - appliances. -Relate particularly to ratchet ammunition hoists of the type described in Specifications 238,268 and 259,033, and consists in feeding the hoist by a conveyer which carries the ammunition directly into the hoistway, the ammunition being hoisted straight off the conveyer by the ratchet mechanism. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the hoist consists of reciprocating rods 12 controlled by cam-grooves 13, 14 and carrying hoisting pawls or projections 15, the free ends of which move in the paths indicated by arrows in Fig. 1. The projectiles) 1 are carried by trolleys 2, which move on rail tracks so as to come directly beneath the hoistway 16, the trolleys being automatically detained in this position by the means described in Specification 242,402. Each trolley has vertical plates 7, 8, 9 which, together with the wall 10 of the trunk, steady the projectile and guide it when being lifted off the trolley into the guides of the hoistway above. The invention may be applied to the two-storey ammunition hoists described in Specification 243,845.
