Abstract
272,971. Roberts, G. M., and Ratzer, H. J. Dec. 21, 1925. Pinless hinges.-In hinging the body and lid of a box together, the hinge bar or pin is formed by first slitting or slotting the lid or box body parallel to the edge thereof and then forming the material between the slit or slot and the edge of the lid or box body into an approximately semi-circular bar or pin which is engaged by the shroud formed on the box body or lid. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the lid a is slit at c and the material d formed into the semicircular hinge bar; a tongue e on the body b encircles the part d and forms the shroud. The tongue may be bent either inwards or outwards around the hinge bar and may be formed within the material of the body by slitting it vertically or by slitting it both vertically and horizontally. The hinge bar may be arranged some little distance down the box side by forming a pair of parallel slits or slots therein and forming the material between the slits or slots into the semicircular hinge bar, the shroud being formed by a tongue on the lid.
