Abstract
272,549. Rouge, E. June 14, 1926, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes; R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-A cathode is formed by applying to a filament, fixed to its support, a coating of dioxide of barium or other alkaline earth metal, evacuating the bulb, at least partly and heating the filament, for instance to 1000‹-1200‹ C. to convert dioxide into monoxide, and evacuating the remaining gas. The filament may be of platinum or platinum-iridium. Finelydivided dioxide may be applied by projection to a filament heated to 450‹-600‹ C., or materials forming the dioxide may be used.
