Tripping-arrangements.-In sheet-feeding machines of the kind in which the action of combing-rollers 1 is stopped when the front edge of the sheet reaches a feeler 3, the combing action is controlled by a cam 5 integral with the feeler, and by a simple lever gear 7, 11, 12, 10 provided with a pawl 9 for engaging a ratchet wheel on the roller 1 and thus releasing a clutch to stop the combing-wheel. The cam 5 has a small circular part concentric with its pivot 4 on which a roller 6 carried by lever 7 normally engages, but when the feeler 3 is moved clockwise by the sheet, the roller 6 moves on to the portion 5<11> of the cam and the combing action is stopped. The lever mechanism may cause the roller 1 to be raised off the fanned out pile 2. The mechanism is re-set by an arm f on a shaft 4 oscillated by a cam b on the driving-shaft a.
