Air-heating furnaces; hot-blast stoves. - In Cowper stoves or air-heaters which are alternately heated and supplied with air under pressure, the burner comprises an air supply nozzle c opening into the atmosphere and a gas supply nozzle g arranged to induce a flow of air for combustion through the nozzle c, so that when, on reversal, the burner opening is closed by a slide d without moving the gas supply nozzle any air escaping through leakages of the slide passes into the atmosphere and cannot enter the gas conduit e. A slide valye f closes the gas conduit.
