Abstract

271,800. Smith, C. N. March 29, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Mudguards.-Relates to auxiliary attachments for mud-guards of cycles and motor-cycles and comprising a flat plate having an upper edge shaped to correspond with and fit against one edge of a mud-guard, a plate being located on each side of the guard and supported thereon by transverse strips connecting the plates and disposed across the guard. The upper edge of each plate B is formed with slots B4 near each end to receive hook-shaped ends of strips D embracing the edges of the guard A, the lower end of the guard having a U-shaped extension to embrace a part G of the cycle frame. The ends of the strips D are formed with reversed bends D2, D3. The bends D2 embrace the edges of the guard and the bends D3 engage the slots B4. The slots may be formed entirely in the material of the plates, or if wires are used for strengthening and beading the edges of the plates, the slots are formed by cutting away the edges of the plates to expose portions of the wire. The extensions at the lower ends of the plates are constituted by clips E, F.
