Arc-rupturing devices.-In means for opening electric circuits in which the arc is drawn between divergent horns 3, 4 and in which pieces of metal are inserted in the space between the horns to assist in the extinction of the arc, the metal pieces are formed as plates 19 having each a length comparable with the length of a horn, and the plates are arranged as shown to divide the space between the horns into a number of tapering passages. The plates which are insulated from each other may comprise a number of short sections spaced apart.
